THE SCREEN WATCHING INTERVIEW: COURTNEY GAINS
Currently on-screen opposite Ann Margaret and Ellen Burstyn in QUEEN BEES, Courtney Gains is now in his fourth decade as one of Hollywood's most respected and versatile character actors.
Since his nightmarish debut as 'Malachai' in the cult classic CHILDREN OF THE CORN (1984), he has worked alongside such names as Divine (LUST IN THE DUST); Michael J. Fox (BACK TO THE FUTURE); Sean Penn and Dennis Hopper (COLORS); Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher (THE 'BURBS); and, Reese Witherspoon (SWEET HOME ALABAMA).
When not acting, he is an acclaimed singer; his latest album, ACOUSTIC GAINS VOL. 1, is out now ( https://music.apple.com/au/artist/cou... ).
From Alabama, Georgia, Courtney Gains spoke with Screen Watching's Simon Foster about his philosophies on support character work; some of the lesser discussed gems of his long career (BENNY BLISS AND THE DISCIPLES OF GREATNESS, anyone?); plus, an impromptu version of his latest single, 'Let it Ride'...
