In 1987, Quentin Tarantino directed and starred in his first short film, the pop culture-infused buddy flick My Best Friend's Birthday. Though much of the film was allegedly lost to a fire that engulfed the editing suite used to cut the film, 36 mostly-watchable minutes remain.
